Campus Living

For students enrolled in the Semester Credit Program, Minzu University of China (MUC) serves as the host university in Beijing, providing the setting for both academic study and daily campus life.

Campus Overview

Located in Beijing’s Haidian District along the West Third Ring Road, Minzu University of China (MUC) is widely recognized as one of the country’s leading institutions. Often described as a “national hub of diversity,” the university brings together students and faculty from China’s 56 ethnic groups as well as over 40 countries around the world.

Situated within Beijing’s well-known university cluster, the campus is surrounded by other major academic institutions, creating a dynamic and intellectually engaging environment. With convenient access to multiple subway lines, students can easily explore different parts of the city while enjoying the resources and atmosphere of a centrally located campus.

MUC is especially known for its strengths in Chinese language, culture, philosophy, ethnic studies, economics, and the arts—offering students a rich academic and cultural experience in the heart of Beijing.

Student Housing

During the program, students reside in the West Gate International House, conveniently located at the entrance of the campus. The residence provides a comfortable, secure, and community-oriented environment for international students.

Students are accommodated in apartment-style suites with one-bedroom or two-bedroom layouts, typically shared by 3–4 students per unit.

Students may choose to live with fellow program participants or non-TBC students enrolled in MUC programs, offering opportunities for both community building and cultural exchange.

Each apartment is fully furnished and equipped with:

  • Air conditioning
  • Washing machine
  • Refrigerator
  • Kitchen facilities
  • Private bathroom with shower
  • Beds, desks, chairs, and closets
  • Wireless internet

Bedding and linens are provided upon check-in. Students may wish to purchase additional items for personal comfort; these are readily available at the on-campus supermarket.

Dining and Food Options

Students have a wide range of convenient and affordable dining choices both on and around campus:

  • Five on-campus student canteens, including halal options
  • Diverse options of cafeterias, restaurants, and coffee shops within the university
  • 60+ restaurants within walking distance of campus offering diverse cuisines
  • Two on-campus convenience stores with fresh fruit, snacks, and daily essentials

A typical meal at campus cafeterias costs approximately USD $3–4, making dining both accessible and budget-friendly.
