  • On or After July 15th ($1,500)
  • On or After August 1st ($2,000)

Spring and Winter Quarter Programs

  • On or After November 15th ($500)
  • On or After December 1st ($1,500)
  • On or After January 1st ($2,000)

Summer Programs

Due to the volume of work required in the initial phases of placing a student and the potential damage to partner relationships that can be caused by late withdrawal, the summer program carries a higher withdrawal penalty than the semester program.

  • If an internship has been offered but the student withdraws after April 1st ($500)
  • If an internship offer is accepted and then the student withdraws prior to April 1st ($1,500)
  • If an internship has been offered but the student withdraws after April 15th ($2,000)
  • If an internship offer is accepted and the student withdraws on or after April 15th ($3,500)

*An offer is considered as having been accepted regardless of the internship being contingent on passing a background check.

Summer Program Background Check Policy: a student may accept an internship offer that is contingent on passing a background check. If the student subsequently fails the background check, TBC will work to identify new opportunities as quickly as possible, but this process will take time and the options will likely be limited. The student will need to be flexible regarding the type of internship he or she will consider. If the student instead withdraws from the program, he or she will be assessed fees in accordance with the refund and cancellation policies based on the original offer that was accepted.

All Programs: Post-start Withdrawal:

After Program Start Date: If a student withdraws after the first day of orientation in Beijing, TBC retains the full program fee (tuition and housing). An exception may be made for medical reasons on a case-by-case basis. To express an intent to withdraw after the program has begun, students should speak with our Academic Director at TBC in China. There is no credit or refund for a student who is suspended or dismissed from the program for any reason.
