On March 18th, Simon Koo, the Executive Director of The Beijing Center (TBC), was invited to Our Lady of Fatima Girls’ School in Macau to deliver a lecture on “The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence”.
Dr. Koo began his talk by introducing the basic concepts, development, and principles of artificial intelligence (AI), and then elaborated on the categorization of AI models, using the GPT AI model as a key example to demonstrate AI’s diverse applications across various domains, highlighting the significant benefits it brings.
Following the lecture, Sister Yuan Ruiling, the school superintendent of Our Lady of Fatima Girls’ School, shared her insights. Having visited TBC in September 2023 with the Hong Kong Diocese Group, Sister Yuan commended the lecture for its comprehensive discussion of the ethical challenges posed by AI’s rapid progression. She remarked that the lecture prompted the students and faculty to consider the future path of AI development, highlighting the boundless charm and promising future of AI technologies.
