Brief Bio
Prof. Simon Koo is a scholar and academic administrator committed to advancing East-West dialogue and fostering mutual understanding. At TBC, he leads efforts in curriculum design, academic planning, accreditation, faculty development, and global partnerships, supporting TBC’s mission to promote intercultural engagement. His research centers on AI in education, exploring the impacts of technological advancements on teaching and learning, while addressing the ethical considerations surrounding responsible AI use.
As an educator, Prof. Koo held faculty positions at the University of San Diego and Santa Clara University, teaching diverse courses in Computer Science, Mathematics, Philosophy, and Finance, to inspire critical thinking across disciplines. His commitment to teaching excellence has been recognized with the Magoon Award for Excellence in Teaching and the National Academy of Engineering CASEE New Faculty Fellowship. Listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders, Dr. Koo is a senior member of IEEE and ACM, a member of American Mensa, Sigma Xi, and Upsilon Pi Epsilon, and a fellow of the BCS. His dedication to intercultural dialogue and value education continues to shape TBC’s impact as a bridge for intellectual and cultural exchange.
