The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies was founded in 1998 and first was located at Beijing Athletic University. In 2002, the University of International Business and Economics and TBC joined hands. The Beijing Center was allowed to make extensive renovations, including bringing in builders to shape the Hutong corridor in the style of Beijing ancient neighborhoods and delicately bringing in a 19th century horse cart. Multiple doorways were altered or constructed, and eaves installed in the Scholar’s Cottage. In addition, UIBE provides a private student lounge exclusively for TBC students in the International Students’ Dorm.
