About James LaLonde 郎龙杰

James started his career as an early employee of Microsoft Japan and led the subsidiary’s rise to the first billion-dollar revenue subsidiary of a software company in history. After his nearly 15 year corporate career which culminated in a role as CEO of a NASDAQ listed software company, James decided to become an entrepreneur and started RTM Asia.

Currently based in Beijing, James has co-founded 3 companies in China in the last 5 years. The first, Yodo1, is now the largest private publisher of mobile phone games in China.

The second, yoli, is the innovative new way to learn English or Mandarin all in WeChat; bringing the study anywhere, anytime Uber-style model to language learning.

The third, The Belt and Road Advisory (BRA) seeks to educate the world about China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is history’s largest infrastructure and trade route build out and is impacting the lives of billions of the world’s inhabitants. Via events, expert analysis, blog, and podcast BRA delivers this knowledge to both Chinese and English speaking audiences. Furthermore, BRA is building a blockchain-based database of people, projects, products and institutions in the Belt and Road countries.

A lifelong lover of people, culture, languages, reading and writing; James has published a best-selling business book in Japanese. Currently, James writes regular articles in Chinese and English for BRA, a number of international media outlets, LinkedIn, Medium and his own WeChat account and various other media.

James believes teaching others is the final step in the learning process. To that end, he is a frequent speaker on television, large events and conducts workshops all over China on entrepreneurial topics. Many of his ideas, best practices and advice can be found in his new book “The Tao of Startups”.
