DePaul University and The Beijing Center Guaranteed Admission Agreement

DePaul University and The Beijing Center (TBC) are in the process of signing an admission agreement providing international students with the opportunity to elevate their academic experience and transition smoothly to an undergraduate program in the US. The Guaranteed Admission Transfer Program is based on mutually agreed requirements for students, whereupon successful completion of the program at TBC, they will be admitted to DePaul University to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

During their time at TBC, students will study relevant and transferable coursework, which will become a part of their DePaul transfer application. In correlation with completing the necessary coursework, students will need to achieve a minimum grade point average of 2.0 or a program-specific grade point average outlined by the different colleges at DePaul. In addition to meeting coursework and disciplinary standards, international students will also need to provide English language proficiency results, such as TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo test scores.

“We are happy to begin a partnership with DePaul University and enrich our community of students. Each new student cohort brings new positive energy and academic drive, and we look forward to supporting their journey towards reaching their goals,” TBC Executive Director, Dr. Simon Koo.

Many international students are educated through different academic systems and teaching styles. For this reason, this program works to eliminate the cultural and academic challenges that arise by changing education systems. TBC will familiarize students with the Western teaching style and offer an on-campus student life experience in preparation for their transition to studying in the US.

Founded in 1998, The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies (TBC) is a center of higher education in mainland China committed to fostering mutual understanding between China and other cultures through cultural exchange, education and research. What makes us unique is our placement in a long and storied tradition of Jesuit education, one that teaches us that true cultural engagement starts first with friendship.

The Pathway Program at TBC is focused and rigorous, designed for Chinese students who are interested in obtaining a bachelor’s degree abroad. Pathway students spend one to two years taking transferable courses at The Beijing Center while preparing themselves for their entry into university in another country.

The Beijing Center continually works to establish articulation agreements with undergraduate institutions around the world to facilitate Chinese student transfers into bachelor’s degree programs.
